Hey all,

Any opinions out there on the Cavs DVD-202G. I was thinking of picking it for use as a backup and to give me the flexability to play may formats.

Patrick

I was actually wondering the same thing. I use the CAVS digital system, but I thought it would ba a good backup.

Brian, if anyone would know, you would!

this is the one that has the super cdg, and other stuff, huh???

Well, a friend of mine got it. For the DISCS that are currently coming out with the format of supercdg, I personally don't think I'd go there. BUT if other manufacturers release their stuff that way, I'd go for it!

Matt

Cavs it trying to be "clique-ish" :reddevil: and that's the way I see it.. in my opinion. Not all the media manufacturers... AGAIN will be represented in the Super CD+G media market.. :argue: so in my book it seems to be a loss for those who wanna play any media they have in the machine kinda like cassette tapes.. here today gone shortly later. :puke:

Sarchastic public service announcement ended. :D

Honestly... I will not use a cavs product even if it was free with all the media available... There is too many restrictions to it's use.
They have alot of proving to do with me. and I have to see the flexability yet.

By the way.. I like what I presently have.

Thank you.

Well, I'm really not sure what you meant in that last post, Brian, but I'm guessing you're angry about something!

I bought a Cavs DVD-202G today. I figured I would try it out in my system as a backup to the JVC 303, and it would give me the flexibility to play many different formats...and the price was right.

I also picked up a pair of JBL EON G2's, a Mackie CFX12, and a Shure SM58 wireless.

I can't wait to set it up tomorrow!!

I'll report back on my opinion of the CAVS unit. If it's a stinker I can always bring it back inside the 30 days!

Patrick

what other types of mics do you have on order, Pat??? You're gonna need more than one!

Other than that, sounds like you're well on your way.

I will say this... the supercdg player is slow as all *&%$!! Be prepared for some criticism from your clientel... but as you said, a backup to the JVC... I could live with that!

Matt,
Thank you. :swg:

I'm happy I didn't have to elaborate.

Matt,

I also picked up 3 sm58's and, though I usually don't buy the extended warranty, I got the 2 year extension on them. I figured people can be pretty rough with them.

Also, I got 2 rsq's with the JVC 303 deal and a cavs mic (probably junk). These will be backups.

So thats the knock...it's slow? One reason I got it is because I will be picking up a dual cd deck, and because the cavs plays mp3's I won't need to spend the extra money on the deck. If it is no good I will figure it out inside the 30 days they allow for returns.

Thanks Guys.

Patrick,
You've come on here, asked perfectly sensible and reasonable questions and stirred up several emotions in less than a couple of weeks!

Funny old business, isn't it?

Keep up the good work!

Barry

Yeah Pat, it's slowwwwww! LOL!

I like the promise of what it delivers. As I said, a local friend got one, and he got nearly 2000 songs with it... but they were mostly Music Maestro, Top Hits Monthly (Personally not my fav, but they're okay for todays hits), and some Chartbuster (for country, they're good!)...

If other manufacturers go that route, heck, I'd get that machine!

Now, it won't play MP3G, if that's what you're hoping... only mp3s... regular music.

Thanks, Barry! I'm just tapping a great resource in an effort to start this thing right. It is all of you experienced people who are nice enough to share your knowledge with newbies like myself. That I thank you for! :D

Yeah Matt, I know it won't play MP3+G's. What I was referring to was that I wanted the ability to play MP3 cds that some of the higher end cd decks have. Now I can get a cheaper one and still be able to play something in MP3 format.

I got only 286 songs, all of them SCDG, and all of them music maestro. I have had a chance to hook the whole thing up yet, so I haven't heard them.

I may research some of the online deals if you say I could 2000 songs with it. I only $219.00 for it though.

Patrick
