Did anyone catch Janet Jackson's shameless display of her right breast at the end of the Super Bowl halftime show? Well, she was wearing a pastie, but it really caught me by suprise. I guess there was too much media attention on her brother's indiscretions and she figured it was time to commit one of her own.
The NFL has already issued a statement on the SuperBowl site stating their disappointment with the show and saying MTV will not produce another halftime show again.
I know there are people all over this country calling the network, the FCC and their local stations complaining about Janet's need to share a little of herself with the world.
It may have been tasteless, but I don't think any FCC rules were broken.

From superbowl.com:

Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show:

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

Janet?!*?!* We all thought that was Michael.... Only Bears and Packers fans where I was - noisy bunch. Good game though.

I predicted some sort of nudity from 'ol janet.. if you go to the virus thread..

actually if the NFL really looks at the real picture.. this act really falls on the artists.. I doubt this was even planned on by Mtv. If it was then shame on them.. but I believe that the NFL is over-reacting even though many were in fact offended.. I believe all the live events were extremely well produced.

What next year.. Karaokefest finals for Halftime??? :P

DOUBT IT!!!

the NFL wouldn't bring back Mtv for the superbowl next year.. they need to get a grip.

they would rather sell 30 minutes of commercials at 2.3 mil for 30 seconds than really put the blame where it really is due..

just my opinion.

well, with the pastie, definately makes me think it WAS intended to happen... the press release says it was an accident, that for a week, they rehearsed, and nothing like that was supposed to happen.

I don't wear pasties normally... heheheh

my own opinion!

It had to be planned, or there wouldn't have been the pasties. I just think it was done in poor taste. That wasn't the time or place to do something like that. Reminds me of the baseball game in San Diego in 1990, when Rosanne was singing the National Anthem and grabbed her crotch. I was at that game. Afterwards, she tried to gaf it off, making excuses why she'd do something like that. Never have liked her since. Now, same thing with Janet Jackson. I don't really blame the NFL for saying MTV will probably not produce another one. After all, it may have been J.J. showing the breast, but MTV was responsible for the production.

Nope, Go to the drudge report and see the straight scoop. they have pictures, and she wasnt wearing a pastie. It was a Nipple shield , she is peirced, but it was on purpose, because you could see the snaps on the top sher was wearing to make it tear away.

I feel their decision is right, all the rap artists, Kidd Rock in particular talking about Crack Heads, drugs etc was wrong. This was the Super Bowl not some rock concert. They should have been a lot more careful with the songs being sung, and the actions on stage. I feel MTV went to far....

Gotta love Matt Drudge an his close up....I mean in depth reporting! I am only upset that he didn't reveal both of them!!

Seriously, it happenned so quick, that any children watching had no idea what happenned. Was this any worse then when Lil' Kim wore 1/2 a dress to the Grammy's or MTV music awards? Her nipple was only covered with paint.

Hmmm.......

MV, I beg to Differ..
when you pay as much as they did .. (i don't have the figures and i doubt they were released) for the talent that performed at the superbowl plus the production that eas used.. i tbnd to believe with the price if tickets and broadcast revenue and all the other income .. I still think the NFL had nothing to complain about.. if nothing else they brought a younger core audience into the "Half time" show if nothing else.. and they need to relax if something on stage got just a little out of hand.. it was probably some on stage ploy between 2 artists, that just got a few seconds of air time infront of a whole stadium.
it's not like she's ruined yet. but they will try if it can be proven.
I still say Mtv had no hand in it.

This is more than "something on the stage that got out of hand."

I believe that the intention of the ENTIRE halftime show was to shock and offend the majority of America. From Kid Rock's desecration of the flag, to Nelly's superfluous crotch-grabbing culminating with the now infamous breast display, the clear intent of the halftime show was to offend most Americans.

The super bowl is an American tradition, a time for families to gather together around the television. Most years, more people watch the super bowl than any other program during the year.

The show was not targeted at The American Family, but seems to be produced with a target audience of 15-17 year olds who want to flip the bird at average America.

What next, a giant [edit by webmaster - inappropriate language - please see Board Rules] balloon floating along in the Macy's parade? Keep that crap on MTV where it belongs--where the morons who enjoy that stuff can go and see it.

I'm not a prim and proper person myself, and I felt the show went over the line.

ENOUGH of the shocks stuff. madonna and britney kissing, who gives a rat's %%%??

I thought the most interesting thing about the whole "nip" thing was I thought the jewelry was nice! Not for me, but I can appreciate stuff like that.

But I'd rather have seen it on another show rather than Football! LOL!

New England Patriots vs. Carolina Panthers. Good game. Slow start but GREAT finish! One of the best I've ever seen in the second half. I thought it was going to be a blow out, but in all actuality, both teams stayed right with each other "tit for tat," or so I've been told. Sorry guys...couldn't resist.

Well I watched the show, but somehow missed the bare breast thing...maybe I was getting a beer...

I can't help but think that putting it all over the news shows just ncauses the whole thing to get bigger than it was......

As some of you know I'm pretty liberal on these issues.....not that I want my grandchildern watching porn....but, with the media and world in a sex sells mode.....see it here or see it there.....

as for kid rock....well there is only one song I really listen to "Picture".....the flag and its colors are on everything today...shirts...jackets...hats....etc...,,, what his shirt said was that he was an american......and as for singing about crack heads...country has been talking about drunks and pot heads for years....

anyway Carolina lost...so nothing else matters anyway....

After the incident I was expecting one of those "Got Milk?" commercials. I thought it was a lead in.

I'm sure Janet Jackson could make megabucks with the "Got Milk?" people now.

A clever diversion from Michael. Also it would have been bad if it was a real breast. Guess Michael's plastic surgeon is retained by the family.

All in all i thought she had a rather nice breast, lucky she had her nipple ring in, and thanks for the info on the game still means little to me.

Yes how funny to the world wide reaction of a little bit of flesh.

i dont think that i will be getting abreast at our football this year.

I saw her "nude hawaii" special on HBO some time ago, and although it was quick, there was a two or three second shot of her walking into a waterfall... she's a LOVELY looking lady, and for a woman in her late thirties, I say more power to her! LOL!

But on HBO I can handle it! LOL!
