There doesn't seem to be a fix then...

Also I discovered that many of the anonymous views are by the webbots for search engines like google, yahoo, msn etc.

Sorry until I can get the developer of this forum to come back and look there is nothing that I am able to do about it.

You can fix the name list easy enough. It is a while since I have looked at a "standard" phpBB board (I prefer Categories Hierarchy). However, you should have a tpl file called something like "view_online.tpl". I think this is charcoal 3 so you will find it in forum/templates/charcoal3/view_online.tpl.
Have a look for the following code:
Code:
<!-- BEGIN reg_user_row -->
  <tr>
   <td width="35%" class="<!-- BEGIN light -->row1<!-- BEGINELSE light -->row2<!-- END light -->">&nbsp;<span class="gen"><a href="{reg_user_row.U_USER_PROFILE}" class="gen">{reg_user_row.USERNAME}</a></span>&nbsp;</td>
   <td width="25%" align="center" nowrap="nowrap" class="<!-- BEGIN light -->row1<!-- BEGINELSE light -->row2<!-- END light -->">&nbsp;<span class="gen">{reg_user_row.LASTUPDATE}</span>&nbsp;</td>
   <td width="40%" class="<!-- BEGIN light -->row1<!-- BEGINELSE light -->row2<!-- END light -->">&nbsp;<span class="gen"><a href="{reg_user_row.U_FORUM_LOCATION}" class="gen">{reg_user_row.FORUM_LOCATION}</a></span>&nbsp;</td>
  </tr>
  <!-- END reg_user_row -->

Get rid of the following line:
Code:
<a href="{reg_user_row.U_USER_PROFILE}"

Also find & remove the closing </a> tag. That should fix being able to click & view from the user list. :)

Also in the online stats box, there are the links for admin, moderator, user. Remove the links from these also. They will likely appear in the same tpl file. Of course, as ever, back up the original file.

In 3.0 I found out how to do it in the control panel..

When it is ready, Categories Hierarchy (used to be a mod for phpBB2) will be certainly a better choice for a forum. It is already extensively re-written & far more secure than phpBB.
Best of all, the mods will be a plugin system. No more hours of find/replace, then having to do it all again every time you update. Simply load the plugin, hit a button and go get on with your life :)
They have just announced the development team so it should arrive pretty soon..

For me, Simple Machines is one of the absolute best forum softwares you can use. Similar to phpBB2 (did they ever even release phpBB3?), but with loads more features, WAY more secure, and yep, it's free. When moving from phpBB based software to Simple Machines, it's like going from dial-up to broadband. I'll NEVER go back to using phpBB.

I had a forum myself that was a Simple Machines one, and I loved it.

They released phpbb3 not too long ago. I use it for mine. It is pretty secure as a matter of fact I haven't had 1 spammer in almost 4 weeks since I upgraded. I was getting an avg of 25 spammer registrations per day - it even took out all of the inactive members from the member list. Lots of new features as well.

Yup Same here. I have 2 threads with youtube vidios onsite and I cant believe why people are not curious how it is done. It has many features which should be explained.

I still swear by CH. It had already achieved what phpBB3 was trying to achieve and has been stable since 2004! It has tons more features, and when it evolves completely away from phpBB there will be yet more. So far it has NEVER been hacked or suffered from a single spam bot. See the support forum, they even allow guest posting there and still never any spam. I originally installed it for the sub-forum capability and because I could use different styles for different forums (something I wanted at the time), but since then, I have stuck with it mostly because it is so bulletproof. :)

Nope I made it so that Bots are now displayed...

I also think I may have resolved the strange "anonymous" profile viewer...

Any idea of the time the Anonymous user problem was resolved Phill? I ask because I received 3 yesterday and 1 early this morning.

Okay what's up with the title thingie. I am a "Super Extreme Poster". I've tried to change it twice and I'm still Little Miss "Super Extreme Poster". I'm a bit embarrassed by the over the top title. LMAO It's like a red flag saying "watch out for Babs she Babbles a lot".

See what happens Phill you spoil us with all these cool gadgets that other forums don't have and then the minute they don't work we whine.

I promise not to spank you anymore if you fix it. :D

I don't know - I will have to look into this - recently we had another cersion update and it caused some issues. It looks as if everyone lost the special titles?

Let me know if you see it different on anyones info.

Phil, could you please take a look at the topic discussion entitled "Grrrrrr" (in the Karaoke Discussion Forum section)? Some of us have been experiencing a problem when we try to log in or just read the discussions.

I tried restoring my title on several occasions. As you can clearly see, I'm no longer "banned", nor can I declare myself as such :( I don't feel "special" without my special title !

It appears now that just to read the Karaoke Discussion Forum you have to be logged in? Did it use to be this way?
